Pomelo, often considered the ancestor of the grapefruit, is a fruit of large size and round shape, covered with a thick, light green skin. It is somewhat reminiscent of an orange. Like other citrus fruits, it is rich in vitamin C. In taste, it resembles a grapefruit, but is sweeter and not as bitter. Candied pomelo is a delicious snack, as well as an addition to desserts, baked goods, muesli and oatmeal. In addition, it works well as an ingredient in herbal infusions, tea or yerba mate.
